~Learning to Wait~

After a while you learn the difference between holding on and letting go

And you learn that sometimes true love takes time and why your parents said take it slow

Your dads voice in your head saying it will be worth the wait

Experiencing company doesn’t always mean security -rarely showing up early and most arriving late

You begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts land sex is no longer a promise

So you begin to accept your defeats with your head held up and your eyes focused ahead

You find yourself being grateful even in the middle of your pain

You are living through the storm when you know you should be dead

You take each storm with the grace of a woman not the grief of a little girl

Life has been like a tornado with each day being another swirl

You understand your pain and are determined to transition it into its purpose

This is life and it’s your life

Its real- Not a fantasy or a circus

You learn to build all your roads on “Just For Today” because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain

All the while tomorrow is here and you’ve already closed that curtain

And somehow your future plans always seem to have a way of falling down in mid flight

It doesn’t really matter now because yesterday is gone and tomorrow brings its own storm to fight

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much of it

So you plant your own garden instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers

You finally see life’s hardest storms bring the biggest blessings with each shower

And you learn that you really can endure

That you are stronger than you thought

And you really do have worth when you look at the battles you have fought

And during the entire wait you learn and learn and learn some more......

With every goodbye there is a lesson and with every lesson there is a test

Nothing good comes easy....and you must wait if you want the best

It’s hard to wait, Your mind wonders and during the test there is nothing but silence

Remember the teacher never speaks during any test

And it’s in the silence where you become your “BEST”

So I began to choose....

I choose to love during the silence for in the silence I find no rejection

Silence is the world of love and its complete perfection

I choose to love during the loneliness for in the loneliness no one is with you but me

Loneliness is the world of love made in perfection for no one but me to see

I choose to adore you from a distance for the distance will shield me from the pain

Adoration is the world of love and no matter the distance this love will never change

I choose to kiss you in the wind for the wind is more gentle than even my own lips and it carries no shame

Wind is the world of love it’s like the mailman always there- Not just in the sunshine but sleet, snow, and rain

I choose to wait and while I wait I will hold you in my dreams for in my dreams you have no end

Dreams are the world of love where it always starts with your best friend
